This was one of my first cakes. It has been really fun to personalize my cakes for family and friends.
My handwriting was still very wobbly so I tried something that I think worked very well. I printed the fonts off on my computer and then slipped the sheet of paper underneath a small sheet of parchment paper. Using royal icing I traced the letters, letting them dry for a few hours before placing them on the cake. I think this gave the letters a more "printed on" look for the clap board. I learned that royal icing shrinks when put in the refrigerator as seen by the little breaks.

Overall I was very pleased with this cake! DoinDailies liked it too! And when it comes down to it, that is the best part about decorating cakes, the looks on peoples faces!
