{ Too long since a post about my cakes! }
please remember that I was still just playing with fondant so
the cakes are not that good!
:: GAME OVER ::
Old school game playing for BlindSide . Not the best photograph that is for sure! I tried to locate my painting skills for the screen on this cake, but sadly they were on vacation......bummer.
:: DEATH STAR ::
PhotOP's hired me to make a cake for a Star Wars fan at her work. Let me take a moment to tell how they run their birthdays there, I thought it was a good idea! When your birthday arrives the person who had the previous birthday is in charge of purchasing your birthday cake. I liked that idea! Anyway......I had a lof of fun making this cake. PhotOP wanted in to be made on a Texas King Cake, which if you haven't had this cake you have GOT to try it. The moisted most chocolatey-ist cake ever. But it doesn't come out of the pan, too sticky. I covered the dome cake in fondant and then cut and shaded it to look like the Death Star. Then I logged onto My Sweet Knees Star Wars game and did some research on their alphabet, then I wrote Happy Birthday in that alphabet! Cool huh! It's the little touches that make me so awesome!
hee hee.....not really!
:: OLE! OLE! OLE! ::
*Please stay tuned for a SoapBox Moment with Aubrey.....
I hate with a HATE HATE HATE candy and crackers and fruit strip gum and whatevers on cakes, I think it looks sooo tacky and soooo cheap! But....BUT I have been slowly changing my mind about it. (This is recent not when I made this cake!) I think it is all in how it is presented on the cake. I have started seeing it done very nicely and have been impressed. So that being said, I didn't like this cake. Having an extremely small budget for this cake, I had to work with that which I had, and so this is what My Sweet Knees got for his birthday that year. I have yet to make him the ultimate cake. I have the idea, just not the money or the means to make it come about quite yet, perhaps for his 35th birthday!
