:: WELCOME ::

i felt compelled to create this blog with the thought of all those who have helped me as i continue my journey of cake decorating. if not for those creative minds who were brave enough to put themselves out there i would not have learned so many wonderful things or been as inspired as i am. i am just starting on my path to greatness! (ha ha!) i hope to document my progress through this blog. give out tips i have learned. make more connections with the decorating world. and perhaps someday give someone a little inspiration myself. so welcome and thank you for stopping by!

February 2005 - Witzi

This cake was made for Littlie's first birthday. I attempted fondant again. I did okay with it. Had some elephant skin on it, but no rips! I had frosting grass around the bottom edge and more fruit roll-up snails. I have a little bit of an issue with candy on cakes. I think there is a VERY fine line when you are using candy to creating something on your cake. It can look so bad. So I tread carefully.

Have you tried working with marshmallow fondant? It has made a world of difference for me! Much more forgiving than rolled fondant and a heck of a lot tastier, too!
