:: WELCOME ::

i felt compelled to create this blog with the thought of all those who have helped me as i continue my journey of cake decorating. if not for those creative minds who were brave enough to put themselves out there i would not have learned so many wonderful things or been as inspired as i am. i am just starting on my path to greatness! (ha ha!) i hope to document my progress through this blog. give out tips i have learned. make more connections with the decorating world. and perhaps someday give someone a little inspiration myself. so welcome and thank you for stopping by!

2009 - Peepers

I think this is the only cake so far that I have done with any kind of step by step action! Huh.

I make cakes for my side of the family all the time, but I don't get much opportunity to do so for my husbands side - with the exception of the niece who keeps me on my toes! So when my mother in law was in town I jumped at the chance to make her a cake! I was turning over idea after idea for this woman! When finally I was hit with inspiration - I was at church when this happened!

The woman LOVES HER SOME PEEPS!

Oh, I was so excited, what an awesome challenge and the chance to try out a technique that I was dying to try.

So I made my cakes in my oval pans, did my frosting torte and put it in the freezer to harden.

Then I made a batch of marshmallow treats and molded the little Peep around the frozen cake. Having it frozen also helps to carve it.

Then add some peep yellow frosting, some gigantic sugar sprinkles - it was hard to get those to stick, you would think that with frosting being moist and all but boy they gave me some grief! The I added the green dyed coconut flakes for grass! Easy! Easy! Easy!

We headed over the the grandparents house for her birthday dinner - I was so excited to give CutNCurls this cake.....so excited....SQUEEEEE!

hee hee hee .....she liked it!
