:: WELCOME ::

i felt compelled to create this blog with the thought of all those who have helped me as i continue my journey of cake decorating. if not for those creative minds who were brave enough to put themselves out there i would not have learned so many wonderful things or been as inspired as i am. i am just starting on my path to greatness! (ha ha!) i hope to document my progress through this blog. give out tips i have learned. make more connections with the decorating world. and perhaps someday give someone a little inspiration myself. so welcome and thank you for stopping by!

November 2004 - Laces Out

(a little out of order!)

My first official birthday cake was for BlindSide. It took me forever!! But the yard lines were straight! YIPPEE!!! The problem I run into with my cakes is that for me, when I eat cake, I prefer as little icing as possible, no icing is the best! But not everyone likes that. So....I have to be unselfish and let them have their frosting! I just don't care for the taste of frosting, most my family is the same way. The recipe I have now is a ton better, really really good.

At this point in my cake decorating I was struggling so much with my icing consistency, I just could not get it right. My roses would crack, I would have a lot of air bubbles, all these things are ironed out now but the frustration I was feeling with that icing - OOOO!

For my first official I-am-making-this-for-someone-and-other-people-other-than-my-family-are-going-to-see-it-cake I think I did rather well!
